namnsdag Staffan, Stefan | Ren
(Staff | pure, reindeer)

winter-poems-l.jpg

The staff was placed into the ground, aligned with the polestar, it was used to calculate the angles to derive the positions of the stones around the stone circle. A sort of runic calendar was inscribed upon the staff. Stafa; alot and also to put words together. The natural laws were written, the staff carried the lore

Ren means both pure and reindeer. There was once a tradition in the British Isles where young boys went out on the day after Christmas hunting Wrens (a small songbird) killing them. When I read about this I was struck by the Ren -Wren connection and could not help but wonder if somehow the winter sacrifice of a young, white reindeer had not become twisted into the culture of a land without reindeer. Mysteries. The young, white reindeer is a mythical connection to the source - the white thread in the ear stretching back through all of the ancestors.

What a spectacular poem this painting is dear Ellen. It is a creation of beauty and power. There is music, and there are runes dancing all over it. They are hidden as you might say, in plain sight. I am happy just to see it.

    Radiant.

Runes dancing…what a lovely observation…yes there are, it somehow seems to fit this namnsdag energy.

Hiding in plain sight, yes. Our eyes see and our hearts respond.

As you say, exactly the same. Life is.

I’m so glad that you have a website. How else could I see all this with such ease? Without going outside the door I can see the whole world, even without the internet, but with it, I can see so much even when I have the flu and my brain is filled with cotton.

i am glad for this website too, a work in progress. I began my first website about 11 years ago. Technology has advanced to where a non-tech person such as myself can do a decent job.

Sorry to hear you have the flu Pat. Wishing you better soon.
