Raven flight

two lovers paired
in
spiral dance

a flow of patterns
wingtip to wingtip
grace and symmetry
dizzying in the sky

This is a magical image, all those pairs of ravens against the blue, blue sky. Here I am seeing many, many hawks this season from red tails to kestrels to the occasional osprey.

Hej Diane, actually this is one pair that i took several photos of and then set the photos end to end to show their wingtip top wingtip dance.

We have lots of raptors here too. I love them. Except when they dine on my little birds at the feeder. Some of those little birds have gotten smart and swing through the covered porch big bird in hot pursuit, then pull up short of the window flying off as the big bird hits the window or wall. This has been interesting to observe. The hawks especially have been a problem but are also figuring out that they do not want to hunt close to the house.

We have nesting lesser goldfinches, and the usual migratory birds, current visitors are Scott’s Oriels, Kingbirds and Phanopeplas. It is always great for bird lovers here.
