Ellen Hill

Ellen bird on shoulderEllen Hill’s paintings are reflective of her strong connection to nature. Combining the freedom and delicacy of watercolour with intuitive gesture she evokes the forms and expressions of a world in harmony. All of her work is derived from looking closely at a subject and distilling the image to it’s final essential form. In this way her paintings resemble haiku where comprehension is layered and additional meaning unfolds in contemplation.

Educated in the U.S., Great Britain, Canada, and Switzerland, Ellen Hill has developed a technique which distinctively identifies her work. Each piece is painted first in watercolour, cut apart, lacquered and reassembled to create a smooth amalgam of abstract shapes and representational imagery.

Her work has received many awards, been exhibited internationally and hangs in many public and private collections, including Boeing, Mitsubishi Bank, Seafirst Collection (B of A), GTE, Merrill Lynch, Digital Equipment Inc. among others.

Ellen Hill holds a Doctorate in Homeopathic Medicine. In this field she has also been honored receiving the prestigious International Fellowship in Homeopathy for her contributions to the Science and Art of it’s practice. She is a Lifetime Fellow of the British Institute of Homeopathy and Complementary Medicine in London.
